pc crashes while converting?

hey. ive been using varous softwares like cucusoft, xilsoft, and other softwares to convert videos from a divx format to a dvd, or a wmv(for my zune player), recently my computer just suddenly crashes whenever i convert any type of video in any converter. It reaches to maybe about 60 to 70% and then just goes off. Im thinking maybe it gets to hot, or maybe to much power is being used. Im not sure. Maybe its in the powersupply. my pc is P4 2.8ghz, 1gb Ram, 258 mb Videocard, 160gb hd. If someone can please help me out. It would be great.
